Leaving home or staying has been the constant theme of conversation in the past 2 years in Lebanon. The wave of emigration is repeating itself, similar to what happened during the civil war. Berlin. Paris. Amsterdam. Dubai. Montreal. The list of cities continues to perpetually grow.<\/p>\n

When the 17 October revolution began many Lebanese diaspora flew back home to join the protests and others organized demonstrations in the cities they lived in. \u201cBeirut – Berlin – Birds\u201d, is a live improvisation that is composed of field recordings and objects. Throughout the composition, sounds of the bird’s immigration route will be recreated live, through the use of copies and samples of the required documents needed for Lebanese people to enter the EU. In addition, recordings of birds collected from Beirut and Berlin, from 2019 to today will be used to weave the composition together. Fragments of Beirut city ambience, recorded before October 17th 2019 will be used to portray the sonic ambience of a Beirut that we once knew. Beirut before the start of this new emigration wave.<\/p>\n

After seven releases he continues the research for the sound and the formation of the aesthetics that distinguish the music that will come out. The constant movement and the serene percussion are the elements that sign his recordings \u2013since everything happens impulsively. The interdependence with the machines creates an allegorical and arrogant image through rhythmic outbursts and chaotic phrases, which always maintain an overflowing, vicious and massive sound landscape. With the music project Anna Vs June, Anna Papaioannou blends electronic with traditional music, singing and playing with analog synthesizers, pedals and loupers. In 2020 she released the album \u2018Prosper Easter\u2019 based on her own recordings of Greek traditional melodies. Her next album \u2018Ersi\u2019 \u00a0will be released in September 2022.<\/p>\n

Alexandra Papastergiopoulou is a graduate of the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia, specializing in Greek Traditional Percussion. In recent years, he has been studying Classical Percussion at the Athens Conservatory. She is active in discography and has written music for theater and cinema..<\/p>\n

Anna and Alexandra met in 2019 and started working on Anna\u2019s original compositions and on improvised or traditional melodies, using acoustic and electronic sounds. Dimos Vryzas<\/span><\/b> is a violinist, improviser, sound artist and composer from Thessaloniki, Greece.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

For several years now his focus in music has moved toward free improvisation. He studied improvisation with Fred Frith and Alfred Zimmerlin.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

With a unique approach that comes out of a comprehensive spectrum of influences, from classical and folk music to rock, noise and ambient music, he is interested in exploring the limits of his instrument, working with the contrasts of acoustic \/ electric sound and exploring new ways of expression within music.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

While the violin is the main source of his sound, he often uses his voice as well as other instruments.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Creating various soundscapes, working with noises, composing music for film and theatre are also at the core of his work.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

As an improviser he performs solo as well as in a variety of other formations.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

He has collaborated with many composers, visual artists, directors and dancers in various interdisciplinary projects all over Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Emi Path and Spyros Tzekos met in 2018. The duo explores extended techniques on the voice, clarinet and sound transformation through effect units, analogue tapes and synths. In April 2021 they released a split cassette with their set \u201cDive Deep\u201d, which was live recorded at Temple Athens.<\/p>\n

Emi has studied modern and classical singing, piano and composition. She was also a member of the Renaissance choir \u201cSchola Cantorum Sacti Pauli\u201d. Her music project moves in the nexus of ethereal songwriting to abstract forms and dark vocals conflated with electronic elements. She has composed music for theatrical plays and short films.<\/p>\n

Spyros is a clarinetist and an active chamber musician, contemporary music performer and a founding member of two of Greece\u2019s leading ensembles: ART\u00e9facts ensemble and Ventus ensemble.
