With a creeping pun between Medea and Media (the new media), Medea Electronique was founded in 2006 and consists of creative people who share the mood for innovation, moving in the greater field of contemporary art. Active in fields such as music, animation, multimedia, art installations, interactive technologies, and multimedia event production, the members of the group merge separate research and practice fields in an effort to develop a particular style.

The activity of Medea Electronique includes contemporary theatre performances, experimental audiovisual performances and installations, site specific works, electroacoustic music compositions. Its work has been presented at the Onassis Cultural Center, the Visitor Centre of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Benaki Museum, the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, the French Institute of Athens, Vyrsodepseio, in Booze in festivals and events.

Furthermore, since 2009 the Medea Electronique organises the 10-day artistic residency Koumaria, in Sellasia Sparta, considered to be one of the best, at an international level in the field of new media art and improvisation practice. Pioneering artists from around the world, inspired by the Greek natural landscape, meet to produce a multi-cultural and multi-media dialogue that culminates in a presentation in Athens at the end of the program. The residency has received the support, among others, of the Onassis Cultural Centre, the French Institute, the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation and the seven-year cooperation with McGiIl University of Canada and IICSI (International Institute for the Critical Study of Improvisation).
