I.S.E.

The Instant Synthesis Ensemble set out to harness the powerful creative energy of improvisation, sometimes taking as their starting point a preconceived form or plan but equally often giving free range to their creative instincts and focusing on what happens ‘there and then’.

The ensemble combines creative artists who cross over diverse fields – musical elements are drawn from live electronics, instrumental improvisation, sound art, noise art, electroacoustic music, circuit bending and creative computer programming, with dance and video mapping and manipulation integrated into the heart of the group.

The I.S.E. is marked by the participant’s strong creative drive, interdisciplinary interests and overwhelming desire to submerge themselves in the craft and immense energy source that is improvisation.
