We all construct our own personal cartographies – maps full of sonic and visual cues that are formed from an increasingly complex amalgam of the different environments we encounter during our daily routine. With the Onassio Cultural Centre at the heart of the project, the SoundscapeLandscape team will create a new kind of collaborative communal cartography, based on innovative techniques in field recording that passively capture images and sound as well as inquisitively seek them out from unusual locations.
The SoundscapeLandscape project will culminate in a site-specific installation that will explore the multitude of creative possibilities that arise when we think about field recording (audio and visual) and our sense of space and identity. With an innovative interactive cartography at its heart, the installation will enable us to physically re-experience the sense of space and place discovered during production by the SoundscapeLandscape artistic team, gaining a better understanding of what space and place might mean for the Onassio Cultural Centre today.
